Watch out. This man is a thief. Took the first payment ($1500.00)then disappeared. We haven't heard from him for 3 weeks and he wont return our calls. I filed a report with the sheriffs office yesterday.

Phillip Ortiz was recommended by 3 people (obviously they don't know him), requested a deposit of $800 for my bathroom job. That check was cashed a month ago. Then when I was ready for him to come in and do the tile work he said he would get my tile and that was 2 weeks ago. The check was cashed that afternoon for my tile and he hasn't returned my calls and has kept my money for the deposit and the tile (large amount). If anyone would like to join me in stopping him email me!

Philip Ortiz is a dirty thief! He collects your deposit for a job and vanishes. He stole $750.00 from us, and $3,000 from our friend!! he must be stopped!!

I have confirmed that Phillip Ortiz (Phillip Ortiz IV) owes both a house and 25 lots in Coldspring, Texas in San Jacinto County. In addition, he did not complete the bankruptcy procedures, and is not in bankruptcy status as of this writing 11/29/06. According to his ex-wife ; he intends to re-file for bankruptcy effective January 2007. I believe that Phillip Ortiz has committed Criminal Fraud, and want to see if the Attorney General or District Attorney wants to persue this case. I have heard from a handful of Phillip's victims. WE WERE GOING TO LIST OUR HOUSE ON THE MARKET, WE GOT AN ESTIMATE FROM HIM FOR OUR MASTER BEDROOM. HE QUOTED US AND GAVE US A START DATE, TWO WEEKS AWAY. WE WAITED TO LIST OUR HOME UNTIL THE TILE WAS DONE. TWO WEEKS LATER, HE NEVER CALLED, WOULDN'T RETURN PHONE CALLS AND FINALLY WHEN I GOT A HOLD OF HIM, HE STATED HE WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH WORKERS, AND HE WOULD START IN ANOTHER TWO WEEKS. THE ESTIMATE WAS SO GOOD, AND HE SEEMED VERY HONEST, THAT WE WAITED AGAIN ANOTHER TWO WEEKS....NEEDLESS TO SAY, 4 MONTHS HAVE PASSED AND WE HAVEN'T HEARD FROM HIM. I AM JUST GLAD I NEVER GAVE HIM ANY MONEY! VERY UNPROFESSSIONAL!

Major rip-off artist . Gave $372.50 deposit to remove old tile and lay new marble, Said he could start immediately and a guy named steve showed up and removed the tile and dropped off a few bags of morter. He came the next morning to get his tools and hasn't been back and won't return phone calls or answer the phone anymore. I do have an address if anyone is interested. His address is 3106 Village Wood Kingwood Texas, this is the address his company is DBA'd under.

I will be filing in small claims court against Phillip Ortiz Tile Company. Worst experience I've ever had with a contractor. Phillip will lie right to your face and steal your money without hesitation. He continues to take advantage of unsuspecting people all over the Humble/Kingwood area. He recently filed for bankruptcy. Get the word out to as many people as you can. File reports with the BBB, Angie's List, the Attorney General, etc. His address is P.O. Box 6625 Humble, TX 77339 or try 3106 Village Woods, Kingwood, TX 77345. We hired him to do a "simple" tiling job that turned into an absolute nightmare project. He never completed the work, doesn't return phone calls, took our money and ran. The people at Master Tile and American Tile know about him but please take the time to tell them your story. Help your friends,neighbors,etc. --- tell them to avoid Phillip Ortiz, he's BAD news!!!

I would not even recommmend him to my enemies. He cashed my check for $800 which was supposed to be for the tile to do approx. 200 sq. ft. He brought 2 boxes of tile and some grout and has not been seen since. He refused my calls and when I finally did get him on the phone, he told me he didn't have to give the money back because I had reported the incident to Master Tile - when I returned the sample tiles. I cannot find an address for him so I can file criminal charges or sue in Small Claims Court. If anyone knows a current address, I would appreciate having it.

Philip tiled our kitchen a few weeks ago. He was prompt and timely, and he can get you a 40% discount at Master Tile (I 45 and Cypresswood). He charged $2.50/sq ft for installation, and he also said he does demolition (remove flooring) for $1.00/sq ft. (We didn't need it). The quality of the tiling job was not great. Some of tiles are not level and lines are not always straight. Sometimes the thinset was not completely covered beneath the tile. Took two days to do our kitchen, tiling and grouting.

Stay away, he left my job also and owes me lots of money. Now he says he is bankrupt.

Phone number (281) 360-5024.Unreliable and unresponsive. Work remains incomplete as of 5/10/2006. Have left many messages but phone calls have not been returned. Used stain to correct discolorations that developed 24 hrs after grout applied to new tile floor. Applied stain using paintbrush over entire 150 square foot area. When he went to wipe up excess stain on tile it was too late, had already hardened. Checked with distributor of stain and was told that it should have been applied with a toothbrush over a very small area (2x2) and then wiped off of tile. New tile is ruined and will have to be ripped up to correct. Also, excess stain is on baseboards, cabinets, doors, etc. Very disappointed with my experience with this company. (281) 360-5024.
